If you want to see people’s eye’s glaze over instantly, just say the word “Microbiome.”

It’s a term thrown around alot in the medical field that specifically refers to the microorganisms living in your intestines.

It’s been found in numerous studies that the more “bad bacteria” you have living in your microbiome, the more likely you are to have negative impacts on your immune system, mood. mental health & skin.

But identifying the underlying issues can get you ahead of the curve with your health and get you back to an energized, strong, confident and active life.

Here’s my 4 surefire signals of an unhealthy gut to look out for.

1. Weight Creep
If you’re gaining weight inexplicably (even in small amounts every month) without changing your normal activity levels or diet there’s probably an imbalance in your gut.

This could be caused by insulin resistance or the urge to overeat due to decreased nutrient absorption.

2.Upset Stomach

A balanced gut (with good and bad bacteria) will have little trouble processing waste. This means if you’re having chronic bloating, constipation, diarrhea and heartburn, you’re probably unbalanced.

3. High Sugar Diet

If your diet consists of an abundance of processed foods and sugars, you’re at risk of chronic inflammation (which causes disease and cancer.) High fructose corn syrup is packed with sugar and found in nearly all processed foods and sodas.

4. Food Intolerances

Having a food intolerance means you have trouble digesting the food in question. This is not the same as an allergy which is an immune system reaction (although studies suggest allergies may also be related to gut health.)

Intolerances are caused by poor gut bacteria quality and result in bloating, diarrhea, gas, nausea and abdominal pain.

If you’re experiencing one or more of these surefire signals, your body is begging you to treat it with care, and to avoid the chronic inflammation that causes disease.
